Events Coordinator (internship)

This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing, international organisation focusing on media innovation. The Global Editors Network (GEN) is an international cross-platform community of Editors-in-Chief and media innovators. GEN is committed to sustainable, high-quality journalism, empowering newsrooms through a variety of programmes designed to inspire, connect and share. It is a non-profit, non-governmental association. GEN is seeking an Events Coordinator principally to help organise and carry out the GEN Summit 2017, to be held in Vienna 21-23 June. The position will also include working closely with GEN’s Finance Director. The Events Coordinator will report to the Finance Director. The position is based in Paris (the intern will also travel to Vienna for one week in June 2017).

General responsibilities

  • Help with logistics of the GEN Summit 2017 (catering, hotels, relationship with other suppliers)
  • Manage logistics of the Sponsored Editors traveling to the GEN Summit 2017 (relationship with 30 editors, help with visas, hotel/flight booking, reimbursement process)
  • Manage logistics (booking flights and accommodation) for GEN team travel
  • Office management
  • On-site support at the GEN Summit 2017 in Vienna
  • Help with the reporting after the conference

Experience, skills, knowledge required

  • Excellent organisational skills
  • Management/logistics background preferred
  • Strong communication skills
  • French and English – native or bilingual
  • A third language (Spanish, German) a plus
  • Solution-focused, works well under pressure, self-motivated
  • Comfortable working with a small team in a start-up environment

Duration: From February to July 2017 (dates may be negotiated with the candidate).
Monthly stipend: 550€ - 800€ according to skills.

Marketing Assistant (internship)

This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing, international organisation focusing on media innovation. The Global Editors Network (GEN) is an international cross-platform community of Editors-in-Chief and media innovators. GEN is committed to sustainable, high-quality journalism, empowering newsrooms through a variety of programmes designed to inspire, connect and share. It is a non-profit, non-governmental association. GEN is seeking a Marketing assistant principally to help promote the GEN Summit 2017, to be held in Vienna 21-23 June. The Marketing assistant will work closely and report to the Director of Marketing. The position is based in Paris (the intern will also travel to Vienna for one week in June 2017).


General responsibilities

  • Help with promotion of the GEN Summit 2017 (reaching out to potential participants)
  • Manage the needs of participants requiring a visa to attend summit in Vienna (provide visa invitation letters, and track application process of participants)
  • Manage summit event page / marketing campaign (update site, attract potential participants)
  • Database maintenance (Salesforce)
  • On-site support for registration at the GEN Summit 2017 in Vienna
  • Help with the reporting after the conference
