Kate Golden is the Walkleys' multimedia manager and is managing the Walkleys' Editors Lab. Before her recent arrival in Australia, she produced and directed award-winning long-form investigative multimedia and data projects at the Wisconsin Center for Investigative Journalism, a leader in the U.S. non-profit news landscape. Many of these projects were collaborations across newsrooms. Her project to transform investigative environmental reporting into sculpture won one of the first Knight Foundation INNovation grants and resulted in a week-long road trip to talk about water issues in small towns with a life-sized half-cow. In the Midwest she lectured and mentored journalism students as an honorary faculty position at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and volunteered for years as a host and reporter for a community radio station. She is passionate about freedom of information, public service journalism and the ocean.
