Welcoming by GEN 

Ioana Avadani, Director of CJI - "Where is the Innovative Content in Romania?"

Sarah Toporoff, Programme manager at GEN - Presentation of the GEN Editors Lab programme & rules

10:40 - 11:30: Speed Geeking

Each participating teams meet and have 3 minutes to present to each other the most innovative project released by their newsrooms in the last months.

11:30 - 12:00: Coffee break

12:00 - 12:45: Hands-on workshop given by Google's Beata Biel

12:45 - 13:15Workshop given by government expert on health care data, Radu Puchiu

13:15 - 14:00: Brainstorming session

14:00 - 15:00: Lunch break - served in the foyer

15:00 - 17:00: Brainstorming & working session

17:00 - 17:30: Coffee break

17:30 - 18:30: Working session

18:30: Mini pitch session

Teams will have 1 minute to:
- Describe the problem they are trying to solve
- Describe their target audience
- Give a one sentence description of their prototype

19:00: Dinner – finger food buffet, served in foyer

 

Day 2 - Sunday 17 April

8:30 - 9:00: Breakfast buffet

9:00: Working session

10:30 - 11:00: Coffee break

11:00 - 13:00: Working session

13:00: Lunch break - served in foyer

14:00: Last sprint working session

15:30: Project submission deadline
The participants must submit their projects on the GEN Community website

16:00 - 18:00: Editors Lab conference

- Opening by GEN, presentation of Editors Lab programme

- Presentation by Beata Biel from Google News Lab - supporting new trends in journalism

- Final pitches by Editors Lab teams - 5 minutes for each team

- Announcement of the winning team

18:30: Closing cocktail for all participants
