The Editors Lab Hackdays Season 2015/16
The GEN Editors Lab programme is a worldwide series of hackdays hosted by leading news organisations such as The New York Times, The Guardian and El País. Editors Lab brings together developers, journalists and designers from top newsrooms to build news prototypes during an intensive two-day competition. The Global Editors Network has already run three successful Editors Lab seasons, and we’re now ready to embark on a fourth season.
The Editors Lab programme provides our partners with an unrivaled access to leading newsrooms and media organisations, as well as their participants and representatives. Your brand will not only be associated with the latest in news innovation and prototyping, but your specific message will also be communicated across all of our online and printed communication material.
This year, the Editors Lab programme will be heading to Argentina, Australia, Austria, Bahrain, Czech Republic, Finland, Germany, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Italy, Philippines, Romania, Switzerland and Tunisia.
Sponsoring an Editors Lab Hackday will include unique access to more than 10 different newsrooms, co-deciding the theme of the hackdays, giving a masterclass to help the participants produce better tools, branding on all platforms and free access to the GEN Summit 2016 in Vienna.
The Data Journalism Awards 2016
Founded in 2012, the Data Journalism Awards is an international competition that rewards the most innovative data-driven journalism projects from all over the world. Organised by the Global Editors Network and supported by Google and the Knight Foundation, the Data Journalism Awards recognise outstanding journalism works that gather, filter, or visualise data to inform public opinion.
The competition started with 120 submissions in 2012 and went well over 500 in 2015, including the very best of data journalism works from across the globe. You can discover the winners of last year and the 75 short-listed.
The competition attracts submissions from all over the world, and allows data journalists to have a relevant platform to showcase their work and network with other data journalists. The competition also serves to raise awareness about the growing importance of data journalism in the media sector.
The competition is spread across 10 categories, with each winner receiving a cash prize. Every year, partners who produce tools for data journalists or who want to provide a more general support sponsor each category. Some of our previous sponsors include Infogr.am, Piktochart, Rediff Labs and others.
The winners are elected by a jury of the best data journalism experts.
Sponsoring will include a free ticket to the GEN Summit, access to all the winners, speaking opportunity on the main stage during the Data Journalism Awards Ceremony, online branding during the six-month run of the awards (details to be discussed) and on-site branding during the whole GEN Summit.
Startups For News 2016
Startups for News (SFN) is an international competition that recognises early-stage startups that are bringing innovative solutions to newsroom challenges. It does so by accelerating their development through carefully planned exposure and engagement via our platforms and partners.
With this new programme, we connect high-potential ventures with prospective editors-in-chief, who provide valuable feedback and who could also be prospective clients. It’s a win-win scenario: startups branch out and our audience of editors and media professionals discover new products for their newsrooms.
