The GEN Summit 2016 will take place in the Austrian city of Vienna from 15 to 17 June.
Over three days, the annual GEN Summit brings together the brightest minds in the media industry to discuss and challenge the future of media. It is the most important conference for media innovation in the world, providing practical solutions for immediate implementation in the newsroom.
Next year’s summit will take place mid June at the Aula der Wissenschaften - an early baroque building in the centre of Vienna.
Bertrand Pecquerie, CEO of the Global Editors Network, said: “After Barcelona, it is fantastic to be hosted by the beautiful city of Vienna, a top European "smart city" and a media hub for Eastern European media organisations. Next year's GEN Summit in Vienna will provide the perfect opportunity to reinforce those relationships and enable us to explore new ways in which data-driven newsrooms can develop in Germany, Austria and Eastern Europe.”
Dr Daniela Kraus, Executive Director of Forum Journalismus und Median and the GEN partner in Vienna, said: “We are very happy to have the GEN Summit taking place in Vienna next year. It’s symbolic for Vienna as media city to be hosting such an important media event.”
Ulrike Huemer, Vienna's Chief Information Officer in charge of Digital Agenda, said: "We are very proud that the GEN Summit 2016 will take place in Vienna. Vienna is famous for music and culture, but Vienna is a smart city and a digital city as well, therefore a perfect place for the GEN Summit!"
