Prototyping the future of news at El País’ Editors Lab
On June 4-5, Global Editors Network and El País, with the support of Google, and in partnership with Medialab Prado and Col·legi de Periodistes de Catalunya will gather the best Spanish media innovators to develop innovative news prototypes. The theme will be: Data-driven storytelling.
The event will be held simultaneously in Madrid at El País and in Barcelona at Col·legi de Periodistes de Catalunya. The pitch session will take place at Medialab Prado in Madrid on June 5 at 6 pm and will be open to the public.
The Madrid & Barcelona #EditorsLab is part of a series of international hackdays hosted by world-renowned media organisations, in New York (The New York Times), London (The Guardian), Buenos Aires (Clarin), Paris (Le Parisien), and many more. It will bring together teams representing news media outlets from all platforms (broadcast, online, print). The teams will be composed of one journalist, one designer, and one developer. There will be a live coverage on the Global Editors Network website.
The participants will benefit from workshops given by Andres-Leonardo Martinez-Ortiz, Developer Program Manager at Google, and Mar Cabra, Multimedia Investigative Journalist, Freelance Data Journalist and Reporter with ICIJ.
Luis Collado, Strategic Partner Development Manager at Google, will present the winning team with their award on June 5. The event will be open to the public; if you are interested in joining and covering the pitch sessions, please contact Pedro Zuazua Gil (details below).

What is the prize for the winning team?
The winning team will compete against the other Editors Lab winners. This final stage of the Editors Lab international tournament, the world cup of newsroom innovation, will occur during the GEN Summit 2015in Barcelona in June.
