Tom has been the Communications Officer for the Ethical Journalism Network since December 2015 when he helped launch the EJN's Moving Stories report - an international review of how media cover migration.

Tom has also worked as a freelance journalist specialising in covering Sudan and South Sudan. He has written for websites such as Al Jazeera and VICE magazine. Read his articles here.

From 2010 to 2014 Tom was the Associate Editor of Sudan Tribunethe leading news website on Sudan and South Sudan. He is an experienced media commentator and analyst, appearing on BBC radio and television as well as other broadcasters. 

From March 2014 until November 2015 was the Head of Communications of Childreach International, a child rights organisation that works in the United Kingdom, Africa, Asia and Latin America.
