With a professional career that started with R&D activities through to the full innovation cycle with the creation of a spin-off of a prestigious University in Portugal, Pedro Almeida holds a MSc in Electronics and Telecommunications Engineering by the University of Aveiro, and holds a post-graduation in Advanced Management for Executives also from the same university. From 2000 to 2007 he was a researcher at IEETA – Institute of Electronics and Telematics Engineering of Aveiro, and was involved in several research projects related e-Government and e-Content activities. From 2006 to 2012 he was Independent Expert Evaluator of the eContentPlus and CIP ICT PSP Policy Support Programme for the European Commission. From 2007 to 2012 he was the CEO of a spin-off Software Company of the University of Aveiro and, during this period, he participated in several national industry research projects related with ICT, e-Government and digital media. Nowadays he is a member of the Executive Board of Associação Fraunhofer Portugal Research and he is the Group Leader of Shared Services of Fraunhofer AICOS, being responsible for the Administrative, Financial and New Business Development departments.
