Nkechi Okwuone currently works in Microsoft Nigeria with the Philanthropies team under the Public Sector Business Segment. At Microsoft, she leads the employability and career motions to get 100,000 youth ready for the workplace by 2020. Before this, she was the Head of Unit Open data, Website and Social media in the Information Communication Technology Agency, Edo State Government. She led the team managing the State’s Government website, social media and Open Data portal, the first sub-national Open Data portal in Africa.
She is currently undergoing an M.sc program in Information Systems Management at the University of Salford Manchester and holds a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Electrical Electronics Engineering from the University of Port Harcourt, Nigeria.
She is a founding member of SabiHub, a non-profit organization with a vision to solve social problems using technology where she manages a vibrant open data community and supports entrepreneurs. As a School of Data 2015 Fellow, she empowers journalists and citizens with the skills they need to use data effectively.
Finally, she recently completed Public Management Institute training at Arizona State University, USA from June to July 2016 as a part of the President Obama’s Mandela Washington Fellowship for Young African Leaders.
