Masuma Ahuja is a journalist at CNN where she works on emerging social platforms and messaging apps. Over the last year at CNN, she has launched CNN on multiple messaging apps and reported international and political stories on emerging social platforms.
Masuma develops strategy, build audiences and reports and tells stories on emerging messaging and social platforms.
At CNN, her work has included launching and developing editorial strategy for CNN on Facebook Messenger, LINE, and Kik; covering the Olympics in Rio on platforms including Facebook Live and Kik; covering the 2016 campaign on Facebook Messenger; and creating Love Story – a voicemail social storytelling project.
Before CNN, Masuma was the national digital editor at the Washington Post.
Masuma was part of the team that was awarded the 2014 Pulitzer Prize for Public Service for coverage of the NSA.
Masuma was part of the first class of the ONA-Poynter Leadership Academy for Women in Digital Media in 2015 and returned to teach at the program in 2016 as guest faculty.
