ICFJ Knight Fellow H R Venkatesh is helping top Indian newsrooms improve their coverage of critical health and development issues. He provides key strategic and editorial support to in-depth and multimedia projects that help the media partners engage citizens and policymakers around these topics.
Formerly a Tow-Knight Fellow at the CUNY Graduate School of Journalism, he has 15 years’ experience in news and related media, including stints as founding editor at The Quint, director of communications in India at Change.org, and senior anchor at CNN-IBN. Currently, he is also the founder and editor of NetaData, covering Indian politics.
In 2009, he was a Chevening Scholar at the University of Oxford where he earned a master’s degree in Contemporary India. He also has degrees from Symbiosis and Bangalore Universities.
