I am currently a research fellow at the Shorenstein Center on Media, Politics and Public Policy, leading First Draft, a non-profit working on solutions to challenges associated with trust & truth in the digital age.
I was previously the Research Director at the Tow Center for Digital Journalism at Columbia Journalism School, head of social media for the UN Refugee Agency and Director of News Services for Storyful. I am one of the world’s experts on user-generated content, and have led two substantial research projects investigating how it is handled by news organizations. I also sit on the World Economic Forum’s Global Agenda Council on the Future of Information and Entertainment.
My expertise lies in social media, user generated content and verification. I also have significant research experience, with an emphasis on qualitative research methodologies.
