I am a seasoned editor/writer and accomplished manager with more than 30 years of experience encompassing all facets of the newspaper industry, including newsroom operations, business management, research, analysis, and project management. I've held positions as reporter, bureau chief, state editor, metro editor and managing editor. I worked for Gannett for 35 years, 25 of which were with USA Today where I retired in 2008 as director of editorial operations. I was invited to join the board of Ballantine Communications, Inc. in 2008, a family-owned media company in Colorado. The next year the board asked me to also be executive in residence to facilitate various board initiatives, including creation of a digital unit, and be liaison between the board and the company's properties. I was on the search committee to hire a new CEO. I stepped down from those positions in November 2013 to pursue other interests.
