8:30: Registration, coffee & breakfast

9:00-9:30: Welcome to the Bengaluru Editors Lab

  • Presentation of the GEN Editors Lab programme rules.

9:30-10:30: Speed Geeking

Each participating teams meet and have 3 minutes to present to each other the most innovative project released by their newsrooms in the last months.

10:30-11:00: Coffee Break

11:00-11:45: Gender reporting workshop with Nisha Susan

11:45-13:00: Brainstorming session

13:00: Lunch

13:30-18:00: Hacking!

18:00-19:00: Mini pitch session

The teams will have one minute to:

  1. Describe the problem they are trying to solve
  2. Describe their target audience
  3. Announce in one sentence what they are going to prototype

Peers and mentors can offer feedback.

19:00: Drinks & food at Church Street Social (right next to NUMA!)



9:00: Keep working on your projects!

10:30-10:40: "How to pitch" workshop

10:40-13:00: Keep hacking, you're almost there!

13:00: Working lunch

13:30-15:45: Final hacking sprint!

15:45: Project submission deadline. All prototypes must be submitted to the GEN Community.

16:30: Pitch session

  • The participants will have five minutes to pitch their projects
  • One minute for questions from the jury

18:00: Winners announced

19:00: Networking & socialising
