Prototyping the Future of News in Madrid

On 18-19 January 2018, the Global Editors Network (GEN) and El Confidencial with the support of the Google News Lab, gathered some of the best media innovators from the region in Madrid to develop innovative journalism prototypes on the theme of breaking news.

A pre-event evening of workshops was held on Wednesday 17 January at Growth Space Barrabes

The winning team was LaSexta / Maldita, with their project: Breaking Hoaxes

Special mentions were awarded to the teams from Ara and El Confidential. Public's choice went to the team from Ara.

How can newsrooms improve their coverage of breaking stories? Whether it’s reporting on disasters, terrorism, sports or politics, what tools will best facilitate both speed and accuracy under pressure?
