Prototyping the Future of News

On 9-11 March 2018, GEN and The Alliance of Independent Journalists (AJI), with the support of Google News Lab, gathered some of the best Indonesian media innovators in Jakarta to develop innovative journalism prototypes for election reporting.

The winning team was Tempo with their prototype: LeaderMatch.

Special mentions were awarded to teams from Zona Utura for their prototype Mata Desa and KataData for their prototype AYO PEKA! The Public Choice vote went to Radar Bojonegoro for their prototype Ayo ke TPS

How can we develop innovative ways to collect, visualise, and present accurate and live data to audiences during election season? How to create new interactive tools to encourage civic engagement and productive political discussion while combating rumours and misinformation?
