9:30am - 10:30am: Speed Geeking

All the teams will have a chance to meet speed dating style. You can show off a recent project from your newsroom.

10:30am: Coffee and snack break

11:00am - 11:30am: Workshop with Andrew Haeg, Founder & CEO of GroundSource

11:30am - 12:00pm: "Building and engaging passionate audiences", a workshop with Cory Haik, Publisher of Mic

12:00pm - 12:30pm: "How metrics can tie into audience engagement", a workshop with Mike Sukmanowsky, VP of Product, Parse.ly

12:30pm - 1:00pm: Brainstorming session

1:00pm:  Lunch break

2:00pm: Prototyping session

5:30pm: Mini pitch session

Teams will have 1 minute to announce:

  • What is the problem you are trying to solve?
  • Who is your target audience?
  • What are you going to prototype?

6:00pm: Drinks! 



9:00am - 1:00pm: Coding Sprint

1:00pm: Lunch break

2:00pm - 4:30pm: Final sprint!

4:30pm: Project Submission Deadline

The participants have to submit their projects on the GEN Community website

5:00pm - 6.30pm: Pitch Session

The teams have five minutes to present their projects and the jury ask them questions for one minute

6.30pm: Jury deliberation

7:00pm: Winners announcement and cocktails
