All the teams will have a chance to meet speed dating style. You can show off a recent project from your newsroom.

10:00am - 10:20am: Dialogue with Stuart Fagg, General Manager Digital at The Australian. Moderated by Nic Hopkins, Communications and Public Affairs Manager, Google Australia and New Zealand

10:20am - 10:30am: Google Workshop with Jonny Richards, Google Creative Lab

10:30am - 11:00am: Coffee and snack break

11:00am - 11:30am: "Hacking Status Quo Journo Workflow"

An audience engagement workshop with Jennifer Brandel, Founder & CEO of Hearken

11:30am – 1:00pm: Brainstorming session

1:00pm:  Lunch break

2:00pm: Prototyping session

5:30pm: Mini pitch session

Teams will have 1 minute to announce:

  • What is the problem you are trying to solve?
  • Who is your target audience?
  • What are you going to prototype?

9:00am: Coding Sprint

1:00pm: Lunch break

2:00pm - 4:30pm: Final sprint!

4:30pm: Project Submission Deadline

The participants have to submit their projects on the GEN Community website

5:00pm - 6.30pm: Pitch Session

Lightning talk with Damien Cave, Deputy National Editor for Digital, The New York Times

Pitches: The teams have four minutes to present their projects and the jury ask them questions for one minute

6.30pm: Jury deliberation

7:00pm: Winners announcement and cocktails at Canva,
