On 1-2 March 2018, the Global Editors Network (GEN) and The Walkley Foundation, with the support of Google News Lab, will gather some of the best media innovators from the region in Sydney for a two-day hackathon to develop innovative news prototypes on the theme of "Connecting with local communities".

Theme: "Connecting with local communities"

How can newsrooms better understand and serve the needs of local and hyperlocal audiences? What tools can be useful to highlight community-specific reporting or make national or international stories relevant to local audiences?
