9.30 a.m. - 10.30 a.m.: Speed Geeking
Each participating teams meet and have 3 minutes to present to each other the most innovative project released by their newsrooms in the last months.

10.30 a.m - 11.15 a.m: Google News Lab Workshop
Speaker: Matt Cooke, Google News Lab lead for the UK, Ireland and the Nordics.

11.15 a.m. : Coffee Break

11.30 a.m : BBC News Workshop
Speaker: Mark Frankel, Social Media Editor at BBC News.

12.00 a.m – 1 p.m: Brainstorming session

1 p.m:  Lunch break

2:00 p.m: Prototyping session

5.30 p.m: Mini pitch session
Teams will have 1 minute to:

  • Describe the problem they are trying to solve
  • Describe their target audience
  • Announce in one sentence what they are going to prototype

6 p.m: Drinks

9 a.m: Coding Sprint

1 p.m: Lunch break

4.30 p.m: Project Submission Deadline
The participants have to submit their projects on the GEN Community website

5 p.m. - 6.15 p.m: Pitch Session
The teams have five minutes to present their projects and the jury ask them questions for one minute

6.15 p.m: Presentation of Yle latest innovations
Speaker: Mika Rahkonen, Head of Development / News, Sports, Current Affairs at Yle

6.45 p.m: Winners announcement and Cocktails
